The first ever flagship WordCamp Asia is taking place from February 17-19, 2023 in Bangkok, Thailand. I have written before about why this is such an important WordCamp to attend and now that it is almost here, I want to highlight everything that is happening. And don’t worry if you couldn’t make the trip to Bangkok, the conference will also take place virtually.
The Location
Thailand was chosen as the first hosting country for WCAsia because it lies in the middle of Asia and therefore more accessible for people all over the continent. Adding in the world-renowned food, shops, and historical landmarks. The event will occur at True Icon Hall, located in the very popular and beautiful ICONSIAM mall.
Speakers
There are around 60 speakers for WC Asia from all over the world. The topics range from development, to design, content creation, and more. Our very own Allie Nimmons and Topher DeRosia will also be speaking there! Matt Mullenweg will even be there to host his own Ask Matt Anything or AMA. Live captioning in English will be provided during all presentations and there will be an interpreter for Thai-speaking attendees. If you weren’t able to travel to Bangkok, the event will be live streamed and you can see the schedule here. See a list of speakers here.
Cool things to enjoy there
Conferences can be a little overwhelming, especially when traveling far. Organizers have set up things to make life a little easier while you enjoy it. Outside of lunch and refreshments, there will also be yoga classes provided. There are also designer goods, movies, and indoor floating markets at the ICONSIAM location.
Side events are as follows: The WordPress Enterprise Gap hosted by Human Made, GoDaddy Pro Island hosted by GoDaddy, Jazz in the Clouds hosted by Cloudways, WooCommerce Community hosted by WooCommerce, Payoneer, and TikTok, Superheroes Pride Party hosted by Yoast, Codable & BlueHost, Toptal Community hosted by Toptal and Yoast Meetup hosted by Yoast. Please follow the links to preregister for these networking events and save your spot!
The WordCamp Asia website even has featured news updates on things to experience there. A job board will be available for connecting attendees and companies. One can meet with potential employers in person and find a new opportunity! There are also guides written to help those who may want to enjoy the nearby beaches or take excursions to famous landmarks/areas. There is no shortage of things to do while there and there are many different guides to help you.
See you there!
I am very excited to have the opportunity to experience this WordCamp in person! From the exciting workshops and speakers to the beautiful city that is Bangkok. This seems to be one that people will come back from with an abundance of knowledge in WordPress, good networking, and a refreshed renewal in the WordPress project. I cannot wait to see you there!
