We’re thrilled to share that InMotion Hosting has announced their travel sponsorship program for WordCamp US 2022, which is taking place in San Diego in September. Here’s what the company shared today:

“InMotion Hosting believes that diversity and inclusion belong in open source communities. It’s no secret that when diverse groups of people come together, great ideas are born. In support of our commitment to diversity, we are proud to follow suit with MasterWP in providing travel scholarships to WordCamp US 2022.

“We are committing to offering five travel scholarships in the amount of $1,500 each. Of the scholarships, two are exclusively reserved for the diversity speaker program. The remaining three are for participants that have never attended a WordCamp event before.”

On April 10, WordCamp organizer Winstina Hughes shared her ideas on how the conference could improve diversity – including by providing travel sponsorships to speakers. Later that month, WordCamp extended its speaker application deadline with the goal of building a more diverse speaker slate and asked companies to fund the sponsorship program Hughes had suggested.

Here at MasterWP, we’re working toward a future where all speakers and organizers at major WordCamp conferences are paid, and no one is economically excluded from such a wonderful career-building event. This year, we’re running our own travel sponsorship program, and will be working closely with both InMotion and the WordCamp organizers as all the details are rolled out over the next few months.
